Class of 2019 honored at Senior Awards Night
Eighty-two outstanding students from the Class of 2019 at Blue Hills Regional Technical School were honored on May 15 during the school’s annual Senior Scholarship and Award Ceremony.
Guidance Counselors Sarah Titus and Laura O’Reilly shared master of ceremonies duties for the event, which drew a capacity crowd of family members, civic and business leaders, distinguished guests, Blue Hills faculty, administrators and staff.
Superintendent James P. Quaglia and Principal Jill Rossetti each addressed the audience, welcoming them and enthusiastically praising the students for their achievements.
Supt. Quaglia said that facilitating the students’ success over the years has made him “a very happy man.”
“This is one of my favorite nights,” said Principal Rossetti, who urged the students to “always find their purpose and their passion.”
A total of $39,100 was distributed this year to the student honorees. The students were recognized or given scholarships for their academic, athletic, and technical program success.
The evening was organized by the Blue Hills Guidance Department, which includes Mrs. Titus, Mrs. O’Reilly, Guidance Counselor John Henry Davis, Guidance Coordinator Peggy Hall and Intern Jill Metzger.
Among those present at the event were Athletic Director Ed Catabia, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid Marybeth Joyce, Academic Director Geoffrey Zini, Coordinator of Career Planning and Co-Op Kim Poliseno, Dean of Students Tom Cavanaugh and Senator Walter Timilty, who delivered the closing remarks.
Senator Timilty lauded Blue Hills as “one of the finest schools in all of Massachusetts.”
The school sincerely thanks the many generous donors of the awards for supporting the students of Blue Hills as well as career and technical education.
