Career

After high school, I attended Regis College to study Public Health, but my real passion was already developing behind the scenes. At Blue Hills, I chose Computer Technology as my vocational track because I genuinely loved working with computers. During that time, I started a music blog that eventually grew into a full business.

That blog became miixtapechiick, a hip hop news and entertainment platform where I cover industry news, legal cases, and cultural commentary. It is where my interests in technology, writing, and music came together. As the platform grew, I immersed myself in tools like Google Analytics and search engine optimization, learning how digital content performs and how to strategically rank on Google.

I later earned my Master’s in Professional Journalism from Northeastern University.

Today, I serve as the Director of Marketing at the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts, where our mission is to build economic wealth through policy and programming. I lead social media strategy, social impact campaigns, website management, and brand positioning. I previously served as BECMA’s Digital Marketing Manager and am currently working toward a data analytics certification.

How Blue Hills prepared me for what I’m doing now

Blue Hills prepared me for my career by teaching me to slow down, study the material, and truly understand it. Taking the time to fully grasp something builds confidence and helps you think more deeply and creatively.

My experience in the Computer Technology program also taught me how to solve problems independently. We were often challenged to work through coding and technology projects on our own, learning how to read documentation, troubleshoot issues, and find solutions. That mindset of being curious, resourceful, and persistent is something I rely on every day in my work.

Looking back, Blue Hills helped build my confidence, curiosity, and ability to solve problems independently, all of which directly shaped the work I do today.

“It’s okay to change direction. I began college on a path that didn’t truly feel like mine, and it took courage to pivot. But that decision ultimately led me to the work and opportunities I’m pursuing today. You don’t have to have everything figured out. Stay curious, keep learning, and keep moving forward.”
