Career

After graduating from Blue Hills in 2008 from the HVAC&R program, I began working as an apprentice with T.G. Heating and Cooling in Stoughton, MA. Over time, I advanced from apprentice to senior technician and eventually became a partner in the company.

While building my HVAC career, I also attended EMT Basic School and began working in Private EMS until 2010, alongside my work as an HVAC technician. During this time, I also served as a 911 Dispatcher and a Call Firefighter/EMT.

After seven years in partnership, I decided to start my own business, Michael Smiddy Heating and Cooling, where I continue to serve customers today. My career path has allowed me to grow both as a skilled tradesman and as a first responder, combining technical expertise with public service.

How BHR prepared Michael for what he is doing now:

Blue Hills prepared me by showing me the different paths I could take within the HVAC industry. The academic classes, along with the hands-on shop experience, prepared me for real-world work. Because of Blue Hills, I was a step ahead of other candidates when applying for jobs.
