Career

Leila began her career in 2013 as an electromechanical technician at Potomac Electric in Hyde Park, where she later completed a co-op while attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute. She continued working there throughout her college years, gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing motors, circuit boards, and cables, testing motor systems, and supporting equipment maintenance and process improvements.

After graduating from WPI in 2018, she worked as a technician at Massachusetts Bay Technologies in Stoughton, where she packaged semiconductor chips, manufactured diodes, and performed product testing. In 2020, she joined Raytheon Technologies in Andover as a test technician, working in the Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) department. She later advanced into her current role as a Test and Validation Engineer, where she develops test procedures, improves test stations and manufacturing processes, and supports troubleshooting and validation efforts.

How BHR prepared Leila for what she is doing now:

BHR gave me opportunities to explore the manufacturing industry while building a strong foundation in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical failures. I also developed valuable time-management skills by balancing college coursework with the split academic and shop weeks.

The hands-on experience I gained in my shop gave me a head start in my college classes. While many of my classmates entered with only theoretical knowledge, I was able to apply that theory through real-world, practical experience.
