Career

After graduating from Blue Hills Regional Technical School, I attended Wentworth Institute of Technology, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management with a minor in Business Management (Class of 2017). While completing my degree, I participated in three co-op programs with both general and mechanical contracting companies, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the field.

Following college, I spent seven years advancing from assistant project manager to project manager. I began my career working on the Encore Casino project, where I applied both the technical skills I developed at Blue Hills and the management knowledge gained at Wentworth. Over time, I led mechanical construction projects for notable clients including Bryant University, Boston Children’s Hospital, and Harvard University, and played a key role in the rapid construction of research laboratories in Boston during the COVID-19 pandemic.

After seven years in the industry, I transitioned into a residential business venture with close partners, pursuing a long-standing goal that began during my time at Blue Hills.

How BHR Prepared David for His Career

“My time at Blue Hills was the foundation for everything I’ve accomplished. It provided hands-on technical experience and instilled the values of hard work, problem-solving, and understanding the trades from the ground up. That practical knowledge became a major advantage as I advanced into project management—I was able to speak the language of the field and make informed decisions that kept projects on track.

Those early lessons directly shaped my career path. After earning my degree in Construction Management from Wentworth Institute of Technology and spending seven years managing large-scale mechanical projects for hospitals, universities, and research labs, I felt prepared to take the next step.

When the opportunity arose to start a residential HVAC company with close friends, it felt like coming full circle. Harborside HVAC was built on the same principles I learned at Blue Hills—craftsmanship, integrity, and a commitment to doing things right.”
