Superintendent-Director Jill Rossetti is proud to announce that Blue Hills Regional Technical School recently hosted a career signing event to celebrate students who have already accepted positions in their chosen fields. This event was supported by Principal Geoffrey Zini, Vocational Director Michelle Sylvia and Cooperative Education Coordinator Kimberly Poliseno, who coordinated this meaningful milestone.

“All of us at Blue Hills Regional Technical School are incredibly proud of these 19 graduating seniors,” said Superintendent-Director Rossetti. “We have worked hard to prepare them for life beyond high school, and now we look forward to seeing them thrive in the workforce and succeed in the careers they have chosen. We are also very grateful to their future employers, families and our master teachers who guided them along the way. We wish each of these outstanding graduates the very best.”

Poliseno sat at a table with three empty chairs. As names were called, the three chairs were repeatedly filled by a student, their vocational teacher and the student’s future employer.

“We’re a vocational school,” Poliseno told the packed cafeteria. “This is what we do. We get students ready to go off into the world.”

The following students and companies have pledged to start an employee-employer partnership:

  • Matthew Harris – Auto Craft
  • Alexandra Ashby – Salon Monique Day Spa
  • Alyson Thorn – SS Service Corp.
  • Jonathan Fagan – Sullivan & McLaughlin
  • Jason Piasecki – Florence Electric
  • Ryan Young – Platinum Electrical Services
  • Natalie Calheta – Vanity Salon and Spa
  • Maria Arcieri – Jack Madden Ford
  • Dyhan Cedrone – Lord & Lady’s Hair Salon
  • Sylvia Cull – J. & M. Brown Company
  • Tyler Galvin – Aspinwall Plumbing & Heating
  • Bryanna Mahoney – Great Clips
  • Aaron Jernigan – Keolis
  • Damon Drayton – HyTek Automation Solutions
  • Jack DeAngelis – CMI Marine Products
  • Samantha Flaherty – BDL Heating & Cooling
  • Stella Murphy – A1 Plus Heating
  • Kelsey Adams – Salon MB
  • Jake Logan – L.L.I.W. Metal Fabrication

“I’m thrilled to see so many of our business partners joining us to celebrate students who are heading directly into the workforce,” said Coordinator Poliseno. “These students are launching their careers with companies that believe in them, because they know that Blue Hills prepares students to succeed from Day 1. It was also wonderful to see so many proud parents supporting their children as they committed to their futures.”

Douglas Durand, coordination and prefabrication manager for Sullivan & McLaughlin (SullyMac), New England‘s largest single-source electrical and technologies contracting company, sat in the audience with a bag full of swag for his newest prospective employee Jonathan Fagan. The company is based in Boston but operates a prefabrication unit in Stoughton where Fagan will start his career.

“Blue Hills Regional Technical School prepares their students to be ready to work on Day 1,” Durand said as he waited for the signing event to begin. “When we hire Blue Hills students, they show up every day with a smile on their face. They come to work mentally and physically ready, with a passion for the work they’re about to do. The teachers here are amazing.”

One by one, the students walked to the table as their names were called. They were joined by their teachers and future employers. Then, all three took turns signing a small, personalized Certificate of Intent, exchanging handshakes, and posing for photos.

“This is the second year we’ve held a signing event like this,” said Principal Zini. “It’s such an inspiring way to celebrate our graduating seniors. Each one of these students has a very bright future ahead.”
