CANTON — Superintendent-Director Jill Rossetti and Cooperative Education Coordinator Kimberly Poliseno are proud to share that Blue Hills Regional Technical School recently hosted another successful Annual “Reverse” Career Fair.
The “reverse” career fair was hosted on Thursday, Oct. 17, during regular school hours. Twenty-three companies and organizations spoke to students about job opportunities before visiting various Blue Hills vocational programs.
Participating vocational programs included Automotive Collision and Refinishing, Automotive Technology, Construction, Computer Technology, Culinary Arts, HVAC&R, Metal Fabrication, Graphic Communications, Design and Visual Communications, Drafting/CAD, Electrical, Engineering, and Health Assisting.
Coordinator Poliseno designed the “Reverse” Career Fair to allow participating groups to visit different vocational programs that align with their potential job openings rather than setting up in a central location for the day. During their visit, company representatives met with students and saw them work on vocational projects.
“The career fair was definitely a success,” Health Assisting Instructor Peggy Stewart said. “The companies that came were engaging, and the students were interested and asked good questions.”
Companies, organizations, and groups in attendance included: ABC Corp., Akiki Auto Group, Avon Food Company, BBS Tech, Brightview Senior Living, Buffalo Lodging Association, College Hype, Elliott Physical Therapy, Herb Chambers, Hill & Partners, Home Market Foods, Jack Madden Fund, MALSCE, Mass Trial Court, Mystic Scenic Studios, NVNA & Hospice, Showcase Cinemas, South Shore Hospital, Town of Canton, Toyota of Braintree, Wegmans, Weiss Sheet Metal, and William Energy.
“The event was perfect. The students asked good questions and were attentive throughout,” Dan MacIsaac of MacIsaac Survey said. “Teachers were very supportive — it was a very positive experience. We thank Blue Hills Regional Technical School for hosting the event.”
“I’d like to thank all of the business representatives for meeting with students in their vocational programs,” Superintendent-Director Rossetti said. “This was a great opportunity for students to speak with professionals in their field of interest and demonstrate the vocational skills they’ve learned throughout their time at Blue Hills. I also want to thank Co-op Coordinator Kimberly Poliseno for her hard work organizing another successful “Reverse” Career Fair.”
