Blue Hills Regional Hosts Second Successful Reverse Career Fair
Superintendent Jill Rossetti and Co-op Coordinator Kimberly Poliseno are pleased to share that Blue Hills Regional Technical School hosted its second successful “reverse” career fair this week.
The “reverse” career fair was held on Monday, Oct. 23 during regular school hours. During the event, more than 40 professionals from 24 companies spoke to students about potential job opportunities before visiting a variety of Blue Hills vocational programs.
Participating vocational programs included Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing, Automotive Technology, HVAC&R, Cosmetology, Graphic Communications, Culinary Arts, Electronics, Health Assisting, Computer Information Systems, Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, Early Education and Care, and Drafting/CAD.
This unique style career fair, designed and organized by Co-op Coordinator Poliseno, allows companies and businesses to visit vocational programs that align with their potential job openings. During their visits to the program that aligns with their work, company representatives also have the opportunity to see students actively participate in vocational projects.
As part of the event, seniors in the Computer Information Systems program had the opportunity to meet with representatives from Convergint, EquipNet, and a representative from the Town of Canton. All company representatives spoke about various job and co-op opportunities. Additionally, the representative from the Town of Canton spoke to students about how Computer Information Systems play a role in town operations.
“This year’s career fair was a great way for our students to see the application of their learning as it pertains to three very distinctly different areas of technology, but ties directly to what they have been taught and have been learning,” said Lead Computer Information Systems Instructor Don Conaghan.
Companies in attendance included: Wegmans, Town of Canton, Tekscan, Comfort Care, Showcase Cinema, Salon Monique, EquipNet, Pleasant Street Auto, East Street Salon, Reiser, Herb Chambers Ford, Joe Warren & Sons, Convergint, DCR Systems, Elliott Physical Therapy, AccuRounds, Ulta Beauty, Jack Madden Ford, Akiki Automotive, New England Sinai, Bright Horizons, Care One, Darling Hair Boutique, and Personal Image Salon.
“On behalf of the Blue Hills community, I would like to thank each of the business representatives who took time to visit and interact with our students at their respective vocational programs,” said Superintendent Rossetti. “I would also like to thank Co-op Coordinator Kimberly Poliseno for coordinating another successful reverse career fair. Her creativity in reimaging our career fairs has provided our students with a wide range of new experiences .”
