On Friday, October 5, the Drafting/CAD Junior class along with junior Shalor McKee of the Metal Fabrication Department took a field trip to three local manufacturing companies. Manufacturers across the country use Manufacturing Day as an opportunity to inspire and recruit the next generation of manufacturers. It addresses common misconceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. The students appreciated the importance of how their drawings must be presented in order for parts to be accurately made.
The three manufacturing companies we toured included AccuRounds in Avon, F.H. Peterson Machine Corporation in Stoughton and North Easton Machine Company Inc. in Easton.
