Outstanding students from the Class of 2018 at Blue Hills Regional Technical School in Canton were honored on May 16 during the school’s annual Senior Scholarship and Award Ceremony.
Lead Guidance Counselor Emily Burns was master of ceremonies for the event, which drew a capacity crowd of family members, civic and business leaders, distinguished guests, Blue Hills administrators and staff and the chair of the Blue Hills Regional District School Committee, Marybeth Nearen.
Remarks of welcome were given by Mrs. Nearen, Superintendent James P. Quaglia and Principal Jill Rossetti.
Nearly $18,000 in memorial awards and $54,000 in civic, state, and industry awards was distributed this year. One hundred and one students were recognized or given scholarship money for their academic, athletic, or personal success.
The evening was organized by the Blue Hills Guidance Department, which includes Mrs. Burns, Guidance Counselors John‑Henry Davis, Sarah Titus and Laura O’Reilly, and Secretary Marie Russo.
Among those present were Academic Director Geoffrey Zini, Vocational Director Michelle Sylvia, Blue Hills SkillsUSA Chapter Advisor Robert Foley and Senator Walter Timilty.
The school wishes to sincerely thank the generous donors of the awards for supporting the students of Blue Hills and career and technical education.
