Biographical statement

I'm in the 10th grade here at BHR. I'm from Dedham and I live with my mother, Lisa, my brother Kyle, my sister Gianna, and my cat Cosma. I play volleyball in the fall and basketball in the winter.

Career goals

I'm in the Engineering program and I want to go into biomedical engineering to design prosthetic limbs.

What BHR has done for you

Blue Hills Regional has given me a jump on my college education by pushing me to be the best me possible. They have taught me life skills and book smarts, both of which I can apply to the real world. I'm getting the experience that I need to thrive in a working environment while getting my high school education.

Why you came to BHR instead of going to your local high school

At first I came to BHR instead of Dedham High because I liked the idea of having academics every other week. I now realize that BHR is giving me opportunities that I wouldn't have at Dedham High. I am learning useful life skills that Dedham High couldn't have taught me.

A quotation that inspires you or that you live by

One quote that i live by is "I've failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed" - Michael Jordan. To me, this quote is saying that i cannot beat myself up every time I fail because eventually, it all will lead to my success.

Your favorite book or movie

My favorite book is probably "Girl In Pieces" by Kathleen Glasgow and my favorite movie is "The Edge of Seventeen."

Best advice you ever received from a teacher/parent/family member/friend

When I was younger my mom would always tell me "the worst thing in life is wasted talent." These words always pop up in my head when I lose hope or think about giving up.

Advice you would give to a Grade 8 student applying to BHR

Advice I would give to an incoming eighth grader coming to BHR is to not put a lot of pressure on yourself, just try your best. I would also say keep you options open because you might find that you like a shop or even an after school activity that you never thought you would.

Teacher or faculty member at BHR who has helped or inspired you the most

A staff member who has inspired me the most is my shop teacher Ms. Hardy. She has taught me that putting your all in to something you love is how you live a happy, successful life. She is always there to help guide me through struggles in shop and celebrate my accomplishments with me. She tries her hardest to make learning fun for everyone which makes shop week more fun.

Who is your hero

My hero is my mom because she is the most caring, loving, strongest person I know. She is raising my siblings and I all on her own. I don't know how she does it but she gets up every day so grateful for what she has. She inspires me and my siblings to be the best we can and never lose sight of ourselves on each of our paths to success. She pushed me to look at BHR and I wouldn't have all the opportunities that I have if it wasn't for her.

Most memorable moment at BHR

My most memorable moments at BHR are the sports teams after school. They're a great way to meet new people and find something you're good at. I love my teammates and i would do anything for them. If you’re not active that's okay too because there are dances and pep-rallies which are so much fun and a great way to start new friendships.
