Learning Without Walls

Learning Without Walls

What is the Learning Without Walls Program? On a Learning without Walls day, students will learn outside of the school day in a hybrid online learning environment without the interruption of school closures. Learning without Walls school days do not need to be made up because they are alternative structured learning days. This means after the 3rd traditional snow day, the pilot will start and this will be communicated by the Superintendent.  The last day of school without any snow days is Tuesday, June 18, 2019. With three (3) traditional snow days, the last day of school will be Friday, June 21, 2019 which will be a half day. This will also ensure that the last phase for our building renovation will start on a specific date such as  Monday, June 24, 2019.

How?  Students will use their Chromebooks and access their teachers' online classroom or traditional learning assignments to participated in their school day continuously. Students will be required to complete assignments for academic  classes or their vocational program. For example, the Google Classroom platform and a variety of other learning platforms enhance the delivery of classroom instruction by creating rich, online classroom environments that are extensions of their academic or vocational program classes. Ideally, assignments should be interactive, stimulating, timely, fresh and aligned with ongoing academic and vocational work.

Why?   Our students need to be prepared to use technology strategically and effectively, both in person and remotely to enhance their digital literacy skills required for both college and careers. This pilot also strives to ensure that students have quality learning experiences by exposing students to the hybrid approach (teleschooling or distance learning),and practical time management.
